The Vic Hotel Kisumu

The Vic Hotel is a business and leisure hotel inside the Mega City development on Nairobi Road in Kisumu, close to the city centre and about 5 km from Kisumu International Airport. It has 106 rooms and suites, an outdoor swimming pool, two restaurants (Garam Masala for Indian food and Mon Ami) and Da Bar, a lively bar with a terrace.

The hotel runs four meeting rooms named after Lake Victoria's islands. The Mfangano Conference Room is the largest, and the hotel says its conference space takes up to 350 guests, though it doesn't give figures by layout. The Ndere Conference Room seats 100 to 120 people depending on the set-up, the Takawiri Meeting Room 60 to 70, and the Maboko boardroom up to 15 for executive meetings.

These rooms are aimed mainly at conferences and business meetings, and the hotel also promotes them for product launches, cocktail receptions, banquets and private gatherings. Groups needing rooms for delegates can book accommodation on site.

Day conference packages are priced per person and cover morning tea or coffee with snacks for a half day, or morning and afternoon breaks for a full day; meals and drinks can be arranged through the hotel's multi-cuisine restaurant and bar. The meeting rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with projectors, Wi-Fi, whiteboards, power sockets and 24-hour back-up power, and Ndere and Maboko have flip charts and breakaway areas. Takawiri and Maboko add cordless microphones, and Maboko also has smart boards. A technician is on call, and printing and photocopying are available. The front desk is staffed around the clock, and the hotel is a non-smoking property. Parking arrangements aren't described on the hotel's own pages, so organisers should ask about space for guests' cars when booking.
