The Lukenya Getaway

The Lukenya Getaway is a resort at the foot of the Lukenya Hills, on Imani Drive off Daystar Road in Athi River, Machakos County. It markets itself as an out-of-town retreat within about 45 minutes' drive, and the surrounding area is known for hiking, rock climbing and quad biking. The resort has around 139 suites and villas, a swimming pool, a restaurant and wide grounds where gazelles, monkeys and ostriches are often seen.

Its meeting facilities centre on a conference hall, described as well equipped, with audiovisual technology and high-speed Wi-Fi available to delegates. The resort doesn't publish room-by-room capacities: its conferencing page suggests several halls and groups of 500 or more, but gives no layouts, so organisers should confirm the size of each room and how it can be arranged. The open grounds are used for team building, camping and evening bonfires.

Lukenya Getaway caters to corporate conferences, retreats and team-building days, with full-day and half-day packages for both. It also hosts weddings in its garden setting, along with birthdays, chama meetings and other private gatherings, and its events team arranges catering and entertainment to order. Team-building programmes can include optional facilitation, and activities on site include swimming, board and ball games, high ropes, nature trails and walks.
