About this space

Semara Hotel is a hotel and conference venue in Machakos Town, on Mwatu wa Ngoma Street opposite the county commissioner's office. Machakos lies about 60 km south-east of Nairobi near the Nairobi–Mombasa highway, at the foot of hills such as Iveti and Kiima Kimwe, and the hotel makes much of its panoramic views over this green, hilly landscape. Alongside its guest rooms it has a restaurant, bars, a coffee shop, a gym and a spa.

Events centre on a ballroom that the hotel says fits 800 people when socially distanced; no layout-by-layout figures are published. The ballroom has up-to-date presentation technology and a full set of support services. The hotel also has a conference centre and several meeting rooms for smaller groups, a bar and terrace overlooking the Machakos hills, and an outdoor ground used for team-building programmes.

Its own pages pitch it mainly at meetings, conferences and corporate events, including team-building days with facilitated activities that test leadership and teamwork. A dedicated events team plans each function and can put together customised entertainment programmes, whatever the technical requirements of the event.

Food is served by the Saffron Restaurant, a large dining room offering buffet lunches and dinners, and the hotel has a choice of bars and a coffee shop for breaks and receptions. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi runs throughout the building, and the rooms have plug-and-play panels for linking devices to the television. Overnight guests can choose standard, interconnecting or deluxe rooms, which suits delegates on multi-day programmes or families travelling in, and a laundry service is available during longer stays. The front desk is staffed around the clock and can be reached by phone, WhatsApp or email. The hotel doesn't publish event prices, so packages are quoted on request.
