Magna Hotel & Suites

Magna Hotel & Suites is a residential-style hotel on United Nations Crescent, off United Nations Avenue, in Gigiri in northern Nairobi. The neighbourhood is home to the United Nations offices in Africa and many embassies, and the hotel is near Village Market and Karura Forest. Its rooms are mostly suites, from deluxe rooms to residential suites, which suits visiting delegates who need to stay on site.

Meetings are the hotel's events focus. It has three rooms, each named after a conference the hotel considers historic. Conference 1215 on the ground floor and Conference 1962 in the basement are each about 80 m² and take up to 100 people theatre-style; set for dinner, they seat 50 and 60 respectively, and each holds about 70 for a standing reception. The Boardroom 1948 is a smaller executive room for about ten people. The hotel's own site asks planners to email for exact seating, so numbers are worth confirming.

The spaces suit board meetings, training sessions, workshops, seminars and small conferences, especially for organisations working with the UN or the diplomatic community nearby. A conference directory lists video conferencing, translation booths in the plenary room, on-site AV support, air-conditioning and onsite catering. The hotel doesn't market itself for weddings or large parties.

Food and drink come from the main restaurant, The Diplomat Bar and the Mawingu rooftop bar beside the heated pool. The hotel offers ample complimentary parking, free Wi-Fi, a business centre, a gym, the Tawi spa and sauna, airport transfers on request, and 24-hour security with CCTV, a walk-through metal detector and bag scanner.
