Mageuzi Hub

Mageuzi Hub is a co-working and event space in Hurlingham, Nairobi, at House No. 14 in Metropolitan Court off Argwings Kodhek Road, near Yaya Centre and past Hurlingham Shopping Centre. It describes itself as a place for like-minded people to network and build relationships that lead to social impact, and its community is made up largely of creatives and media workers such as journalists, photographers, designers, filmmakers, writers and small NGOs.

The hub has a single event space for up to 80 people, which suits small, informal gatherings rather than large functions. No breakdown by layout is published, so organisers should confirm how the room can be set for a seated talk, a screening or a standing reception. Alongside the event space is a communal co-working area for walk-in and monthly members. The half-day package can be booked for either a daytime or an evening slot, which works for after-work events such as screenings or open-mic nights.

The hub lists a wide range of events for the room: film screenings, workshops, masterclasses, seminars and meetings, theatre plays, comedy and open-mic nights, discussions, book clubs, exhibitions and art shows, award ceremonies, chama meetings, baby showers and birthday parties. Its own programme has included sip-and-paint sessions, writers' meet-ups, discussions and social clubs.

Hire is charged by the hour, half day or full day, and each package includes the audiovisual system with a technician on hand, security and access to the kitchen; Wi-Fi is included in the hourly package and offered to co-working members. Organisers who need food would arrange their own catering using the kitchen. The hub doesn't publish details of parking or step-free access, so these are worth asking about when booking.
