Leilani Gardens

Leilani Gardens is an open-air events lawn in Ondiri, about 2 km from Kikuyu town in Kiambu County and some 18 km from Nairobi's CBD. Coming from Kikuyu town on the Kikuyu–Kamangu road, it is the first right turn before the road climbs Makeresha Hill, and the grounds look out over the Waguthu wetland.

The venue is a single landscaped garden rather than a set of halls. Its Instagram account calls it a perfected garden lawn that will host any kind of event, and its recent posts show the lawn dressed with white tents, a ceremony aisle beside the water, decorated reception tables and picnic set-ups under the trees. No capacity is published, so ask how many guests the lawn takes in your layout.

Weddings fill most of its posts, and local listings also mention corporate functions, meetings, photoshoots, family picnics and private celebrations. A children's playground with a jungle gym, trampoline and swings, and a kids' menu, make it a good fit for children's parties and family days out.

Tents, chairs and sound systems can be hired from the venue, which saves bringing in separate suppliers. A local family listing describes the grounds as alcohol- and drug-free, so raise any bar plans early. Picnic visitors pay a small entry fee, and bookings are taken by phone.
