Imani Park Gardens Ruiru

Imani Park Gardens is an events park on the edge of Ruiru in Kiambu County, about 1.5 km from the town centre along the tarmac road to Githunguri (the C65). It sells itself as a countryside setting within reach of Nairobi: a quiet park of lawns, flowerbeds, fruit trees and birdsong, planted with a wide range of Kenyan trees, shrubs and less common crops that visitors can walk round and learn about.

The grounds are made up of several wide fields and manicured lawns lined with flowers, fruit trees and other trees, linked by wide driveways and walking paths. There is also a seminar hall for indoor sessions, and the park points out that it has open ground big enough for a helicopter to land. It doesn't publish a capacity for any space, so guest numbers should be confirmed when enquiring. One field is listed by a booking site as an 11-a-side football pitch.

The park lists a long range of uses. For families and couples there are wedding receptions and garden weddings, engagement proposals, dowry ceremonies, anniversaries, graduations, family functions and pre-wedding photo shoots. For organisations it offers team building, meetings, seminars, conferences, training and trade fairs, and it also hosts photography and video shoots, picnics, cocktails, barbecues, camping, nature walks and bird watching.

Ample parking is provided. The venue says a restaurant is coming soon and doesn't currently advertise in-house catering, so it's worth asking how food is handled and whether outside caterers and tent hire can be brought in; its posts show weddings set up by independent decorators. It also sells plantains and chia seeds. Prices aren't published, so quotes depend on the date and the size of the event. Bookings are by phone on 0722 388 635 or by email to info@imaniparkgardens.com.
