Comfort Gardens, Nairobi

Up to 80 guests

About this space

Comfort Gardens is a hotel, part of a Kenyan hospitality brand, on UN Crescent in Gigiri, the north Nairobi neighbourhood that is home to the United Nations Office at Nairobi, several embassies and diplomatic missions. The hotel is about a kilometre from the UN complex and close to the Village Market shopping centre, and it presents itself as a quiet, secure base set in gardens, with a swimming pool and rooms and suites for overnight guests. It is a UN-approved hotel with its own rates for UN staff and delegates.

There are two event rooms. The Wangari Maathai Hall, at just over 160 square metres, takes 80 guests at a banquet, 70 in theatre style, 50 classroom-style or 40 around a U-shaped table. The smaller Karura Boardroom, of about 39 square metres, is set up for boardroom meetings of 10 to 20 people, and the hotel lists it at up to 50 theatre-style or 30 for a banquet. The main hall is air-conditioned.

The hotel pitches these rooms at business meetings, conferences, workshops, product launches, and corporate and private events, and it notes that it hosts UN-related meetings and side events. Its location suits delegations attending sessions at the UN complex, and during major conferences it runs a free scheduled shuttle there.

Catering is provided in-house, from The Gardens Restaurant, a poolside restaurant and a lounge that serves cocktails, and the hotel lists audiovisual equipment and free Wi-Fi for meetings. A business centre, airport pick-ups from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (about 25 to 30 minutes away, depending on traffic) and free on-site parking are also available. Event enquiries go through the hotel's booking form, its email address, or the mobile number, which also takes WhatsApp messages. Delegates can stay on site in the hotel's rooms and suites, and Karura Forest and the Giraffe Centre are among the nearby attractions.
