Sena Art Gallery Presents: Skin as a Noun, as a Verb – The Debut Solo Exhibition of Tevin Noel Ngunjiri

August 13, 2025| Nairobi, Kenya– This Friday, August 15, 2025, Under The Swahili Tree will host the debut solo exhibition of Naivasha-based self-taught visual artist Tevin Noel Ngunjiri, titled Skin as a Noun, as a Verb. Presented by Sena Art Gallery, the exhibition invites audiences into a deeply personal and thought-provoking exploration of identity, memory, and transformation.

Tevin Noel’s work is as intimate as it is universal—drawing from lived experiences, emotional landscapes, and the complexities of self-discovery. Using a range of mediums, from expressive charcoal portraits to dreamlike, abstracted landscapes, he captures the invisible threads that connect who we are, who we have been, and who we are becoming.

The title Skin as a Noun, as a Verb is both poetic and provocative, framing the body and the self not only as a tangible, visible form (a noun) but also as an evolving, active process (a verb). Each piece in the exhibition challenges viewers to consider how identity is constructed, deconstructed, and continuously reshaped over time.

About the Artist:
Born and raised in Naivasha, Kenya, Tevin Noel Ngunjiri is a self-taught artist whose practice merges technical precision with emotional depth. His work often reflects a quiet resilience, confronting questions of belonging, vulnerability, and personal history. While this exhibition marks his solo debut, his artistic journey has been years in the making—a courageous commitment to telling stories through texture, shadow, and light.

Visitors can expect an immersive experience that blends art, atmosphere, and conversation. The intimate setting of Under The Swahili Tree will provide a perfect backdrop for this debut—encouraging dialogue, reflection, and connection between the artist and his audience.

Sena Art Gallery is proud to champion emerging voices in the Kenyan art scene, and with Skin as a Noun, as a Verb, they present not just an exhibition, but the beginning of a remarkable artistic career.
