Led by celebrated Malian percussionist and griot Djeli Mahamadou Koné, Doucoura brings the vibrant heart of West African music to Nairobi in a rare showcase that bridges tradition with contemporary groove. Born into a legendary griot lineage in Bamako, Koné has been steeped in musical tradition since the age of six, mastering the tamani (talking drum) and n’goni—instruments central to Mali’s musical identity.

With over two decades of international touring alongside icons like Habib Koité, Toumani Diabaté, and Bassekou Kouyaté, Mahamadou founded Doucoura in 2011 to share Malian sounds with the world in new and electrifying ways. The band fuses traditional instrumentation with modern energy, creating an experience that is both deeply rooted and refreshingly global.
