Explore the Truth Behind the Illusion at the “DeepFake” Exhibition – Nairobi

Nairobi, Kenya – 29/4/2025 – Step into the cutting edge of digital reality as the “DeepFake” Exhibition opens at Alliance Française, Nairobi, running daily from Friday, May 2 to Sunday, May 11, 2025, starting at 6:00 PM. This timely and thought-provoking showcase dives deep into the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence, manipulated media, and the growing influence of deepfake technology on public information.

Curated to spark awareness, discussion, and critical thinking, the DeepFake Exhibition highlights how AI-generated content—both audio and video—is being used to mimic real-life people and scenarios, blurring the line between fact and fiction. In a time when digital misinformation spreads faster than ever, the exhibition urges visitors to question what they see and hear, and to explore the consequences of taking manipulated content at face value.

Central to the exhibition are real-world examples of deepfake content that have been investigated and debunked by AFP Fact Check and RFI Kiswahili, with interactive displays showing exactly how the misinformation was uncovered. Through a mix of multimedia presentations, case studies, and behind-the-scenes insights into the fact-checking process, visitors are taken on a powerful journey into the mechanics of deception—and the tools needed to resist it.

Designed for students, journalists, digital creatives, educators, and the general public, the exhibition serves as a wake-up call for a society that is increasingly dependent on visual media for news and social engagement. As artificial intelligence grows in sophistication, so must our awareness and ability to think critically.

Join us as we explore the fragile boundary between truth and illusion, and learn how to stay informed in an era shaped by algorithms and AI. Because in today’s world, seeing isn’t always believing.
