The event took place on September 21st, at The Orchid Lounge & Grill along Ngong Road, from 12:00 PM. The venue was the perfect backdrop for what turned out to be an unforgettable cultural experience that still has everyone talking.

Ohangla Brunch was designed for anyone who loves good music, great food, and even better vibes. Whether you’re someone who grew up listening to these rhythms or you’re just discovering the beauty of Luo music, there was something for everyone.

Don’t believe me? Check out what you missed.

Ohangla Brunch Highlights That Had Everyone Talking

By noon, the stage was perfectly set and ready for what would become an incredible day. The weather was absolutely perfect – sunny and smiling, creating the ideal environment for this outdoor celebration.

The Orchid Lounge & Grill really came through with the perfect atmosphere that made everyone feel at home. The venue setup was something else entirely! From comfortable sofas to bar stools positioned under warm lights, wooden pallets scattered under the beautiful sun, and even proper restaurant-style seating arrangements.

In addition, VDJ Jones was already busy warming up the decks, getting ready to drop those vibes that would carry the crowd through the entire day and night.

And the Kenyans! They definitely understood the assignment when it came to the dress code: dress to impress! From stylish ankara fits that showed off African pride to modern, comfortable jeans that kept things casual, everyone was looking absolutely beautiful.

And the style did not disappoint when it came to the performers. They really brought the cultural aspect to life by donning gorgeous traditional headdresses, animal-skin patterns, and other traditional accessories that made this Ohangla Brunch feel authentic and special.

Musical Magic That Made Hearts Dance

The man. The myth. The legend himself – Osogo Winyo live on stage, carrying the true spirit of Ohangla with every single beat that came from his soul. With his powerful voice and traditional fly whisk in hand, he proved that Luo is not just a culture – it’s a blood group, a rhythm, a purposeful calling that unites all of us through music, dance, and shared identity.

Additionally, VDJ Jones came through with an incredible mix of old school favourites and new age Luo music. This perfect blend of beats united the young ones and the seasoned music lovers in soulful singing and dancing.

As the day progressed, every single foot hit the dance floor. No judgment, no shyness, just vibes on top of more vibes!

Moreover, Emma Jalamo came through with a magnetic entrance that was ready to take over the crowd with pure Ohangla fire. The King fed off the crowd’s energy, building on it and giving back ten times more. People cheered, sang, danced, and ate from his magnetic presence. This Ohangla Brunch was not just a party; it was a marathon of nothing but pure, undiluted vibes.

Until We Dance Again!

After an incredible afternoon and evening of non-stop dancing and singing, it was absolutely clear that a proper time had been had. Legs were definitely aching, people were sweating from all the dancing, and voices had become hoarse from singing along to every single song – but it was completely worth it to be engulfed in the beautiful glow of sharing in authentic Luo culture.

This Ohangla Brunch owed us nothing, proving that it remains a top-tier event among cultural celebrations happening in Nairobi. While the organisers haven’t announced the exact date yet, they promised that they will definitely be back with another unforgettable experience!
